As part of a recent trip to India (to check out the various inflight services and meals on offer) I had to take some flights with Air India to see what the meals and service were like. I flew a total of two flights with Air India, the first was Mumbai to Delhi to sample the domestic meal offerings and the second was a flight from Delhi to Paris to check out their international meal offerings.

Keep your expectations low when flying with Air India to avoid disappointment, the food is what it is, traditional yet probably a standard or two below their competitors like Jet Airways or Vistara. Don’t expect Singapore Airlines service here, the crew were ok on my flights, not overly helpful and a little more interested in hanging out in the galleys with the curtain shut than helping passengers (on the long haul flight anyway).

Plenty of room for improvement here, not only for the food but also for the inflight service offered by the crew. It wasn’t the worst flight ever, it just wasn’t memorable at all, your typical below average airline food experience. Nothing to write home about, but still, have to write about it.
