Hello from 🇫🇷. Just landed in Paris after flying with Cathay from Hong Kong for almost 14 hours. Overall a good comfortable flight and the crew were better on this sector.
..
1st meal service. Three meal choices: Pork, Chicken or Pasta. We selected the pasta and chicken options. I had the pasta and I enjoyed it. My 'travelling companion' had the chicken and didn't enjoy it.😱
He complained about how watery the veggies were and the quality of chicken used. The ice cream was delicious (much better quality than what was offered ex MEL), and the appetiser of a beef pastrami & quinoa salad was good.

In between meals. Nothing offered. But you could go to the galley and take some snacks. (Pictured) You could also request noodles and fresh fruit. 😋

No water runs or additional drinks offered by cabin crew between the two services. So we just used the call button. A little surprised the crew didn't do water runs on such a long sector.

2nd meal service was breakfast. Two options: Egg noodles with chicken or scrambled eggs. The noodles were ok. But the western breakfast was delicious and on point. Breakfast trays offered fresh fruit, yoghurt and bread.

Hello from Hong Kong! Just flew in with Cathay Pacific from Melbourne in economy class. 🤗

But first. A rant about airlines and luggage fees. Be careful. Know your limits. A lovely Aud$450 fee for around 13kgs of extra weight at check in today. We used the self check in. Printed our tags but the machines at Melbourne airport do not give you an indication of weight. Instead you're directed to the drop off area. This is where they get you. No pooling of weight between travellers allowed and once the bag was on the scales the agent made it clear we had to pay. No opportunity to move weight around. It's bad enough that we are paying high fares. These days airlines only care about the bottom line. Cathay is no exception to this. Rules are rules. I get it. But the charges are insane and just a last minute money grab.

So now onto the food and service. Overall a good experience. Printed menus and bottled water were provided before take off. Three choices of mains in economy class. Appetiser offered during the main meal.

A choice of chicken, seafood or pasta (veg option). I sampled both. Meals were ok. Ice cream was good.
..
Crew disappeared after the service which took about 2 hours to complete. No water or drinks offered between services.
..
Didn't see the crew until 2.20mins before landing. The second service offered two choices a proper dessert (cheesecake) and some processed fruit. I went with the noodles with chicken and vegetables. It was so much better than the first meal!

Overall a good experience. Roomy seats. Ok food. Service quite robotic. Dirty tray table area though.

Hello from Melbourne! 😁 What a week. Hong Kong to Melbourne via Bandar Seri Begawan with Royal Brunei Airlines. Great little airline. Lovely crew so polite and friendly. Cleanest bathrooms I've seen on a plane and love how that they use air freshener in the toilets (Never seen this before)

1st pic- Dinner/supper service from Bandar Seri Begawan to Melbourne (6h45min). Choice of beef or chicken. Served with a pasta salad entree and a delicious red velvet cake. Definitely a lot more food than you'll get on Singapore Airlines similarly timed flights. Proper dessert is a nice bonus as is the appetiser. Good meal. No complaints. No additional service offered. However, the crew came thru with drinks reguarly (juice, coke, water) and snacks displayed and available in the galley. (Hot noodles, nuts, biscuits etc).

2nd pic- Hong Kong to Bandar Seri Begawan. (2hr45min) Choice of two meals (chicken or beef) on this short sector. I ordered the beef. This dish was amazing. But have no idea what it was called! No appetiser but a lovely dessert offered. Crew were great on this flight too.

Didn't know what to expect. But was pleasantly surprised at the food offering and the level of service offered. Would fly them again in a heart beat. Note the airline is dry so no alcohol served and evrything is halal so you don't need to order a halal meal if you require it...

Hello from Hong Kong! Flew in from Seoul today with low cost airline HK Express. Can you guess what is on top of the rice and why?

I pre ordered my meal and saved about 20% vs onboard prices (and they provided a bottle of water). Cost HKD55 or USD7.00.
..
Pleasantly surprised with my experience. Crew were welcoming and friendly. They even asked when I would like to have my meal.
..
On this 3hr 45min flight they completed three meal services. Everytime the crew were in the cabin they always had a tray in their hand. Very service orientated and not what I was expecting from a low cost airline at all.
..
The Japanense chicken with rice dish is good value and a decent meal. Cute and simple packaging.
..

I've loved the last few days. Starting in first class, business and then experiencing economy on a low cost airline.

Hello from Seoul! Just flew in a few hours ago with Saudia, this time in business class.

Two services on this 8hr 30min flight; the first was a breakfast service, followed by an a la carte service.
..
Pre departure drinks were offered and you can select anything from the drinks menu. The crew don't just offer a tray of juices.
..
Three food choices for the first service included the Saudia Banquet, Contemporary Arabic Cuisine, and A La Carte.
..
I decided to go a la carte and have fruit, pastries, and scrambled eggs served with rosti potato, asparagus, and tomato. It wasn't too bad.
..
But the highlight for me was the second service. Saudia offers an all-day dining option with three starters and two main options. First up was the Arabic Mezze of tabbouleh, hummus, and muhammara dip with cheese sambousek. I could have eaten more of the sambousek yum! 😋
..
However, my favorite was the Chicken Bukhari (considered a national dish of Saudi), served after the Arabic Mezze. The word Bukhari comes from Bukhara, which was a prominent point on the Silk Road. The chicken packed flavor and was tender and delicious.
..
I love that Saudia allows you to order something up until the seat belt sign is turned on.
..
Also loved the hygenie kit provided. Very cool face mask. 😎

Hello from Riyadh! Just flew first class with Saudia from Paris on their 777. This is sponsored by Saudia, they offered me this ticket. 😁

In first they have a butler and an inflight chef which elevates the experience. The chef was knowledgeable about the menu and he showed me how he plates up the dishes. (Video coming soon) My butler was very sweet always checking in to see if everything was ok.

Upon boarding I found a bottle of water and a tray of macadamias, lokum and cape gooseberry. Soon after I was offered a non alcoholic pre take off drink and a towel. An amenity kit and arabic coffee followed soon after.

After take off the crew commenced the service..

There are three dining concepts offered:
..
1- Saudia Banquet – All the food is served at once, a traditional way of eating in Saudi.
2- Contemporary Arabic – A modern spin on Arabic food.
3- Modern European – Akin to a Michelin dining experience.
..
I opted for the Saudia Banquet which offered a traditional dish of cod with spiced rice. It was served with bread and tahini, Fattoush salad, parsley hummus and grilled prawns.
..
Everything tasted great. Super fresh, plated beautifully and delivered with precision.
..
For dessert the sticky date pudding with butterscotch really hit the spot. I find desserts can be hit or miss inflight. This was definitely a hit. 😍

I finished my meal with some fruit and coffee and was offered chocolates at the end.
..
Haven't flown first class in years and it was exciting and felt special. I am very grateful to have had this experience. More on the blog next month! Onto my next stop now. 😎
