And just like that back in Melbourne! Princess had to book business class to see what was being served upfront 😂. Lovely service provided by Rahul and his team tonight on Rex from Sydney to Melbourne. We had a small delay but was managed well. Meal orders taken on ground as well as a choice of pre departure drinks. After take off some champagne to celebrate as well as a small snack. Two main meal choices a hot option of beef with polenta or a lighter option of a cheese platter. What's interesting is the concept. Cardboard meal trays, wooden cutlery and packaging from sustainably managed forests. For the price paid $199.00 excellent service and value. The main meal was good. However the star of the meal tray was the gluten free handmade dessert; a lime, yoghurt and coconut cake which was moist and delicious. I hope you get to fly with Rex. Hellloooo from Sydney! My first flight in over 11 months 😜. Flew economy class on the #rexfirstflight from Melbourne to Sydney this morning at 7am. At the boarding gate we were offered St Ali coffee as well as a breakfast box, onboard a small snack and a choice of water, tea or coffee. Great to be part of this historical experience, awesome crew and I wish them well with their new domestic services. Will be flying them later today to see what else they offer onboard. Finally made it to Melbourne! Swipe to see all the inflight pics. Quite a smooth well organised arrival and quarantine process, well done to the Australian government. Currently on my way to a city hotel for the next 14 days. 😷 Here's my meals from the 13hr flight from Doha to Melbourne. Just 14 of us onboard! Two meal services plus plenty of drinks and snacks offered by hand throughout the flight. Meal pictured was lunch served before arrival. The noodles were tasty and spicy. Served with a passion fruit yoghurt and fresh fruit. First meal out of Doha included 3 meal choices. I selected the chicken with rice which was delicious, the dessert was phenomenal, a salted caramel pot but the side salad of pasta and carrot was a little bland. Overall a great experience with Qatar Airways. Now is not the time to judge airlines too much. This will probably be my last insta post for a while. Hello from Doha! What a surreal experience flying is at the moment, like straight out of a movie. There was just 10 of us in economy class (Boeing 787) on Qatar Airways from Athens today. Service is still top notch, a few minor changes but the experience is still the same. Crew were not afraid to provide service and were very present in the cabin. Three main meal choices (chicken, beef or veg option) and plenty of drink options too! Well done to the airline for continuing to provide decent inflight service. The Chicken pasta covered in tomato sauce was delicious. The side salad was fresh and tangy, loved the focaccia bread and the cheesecake was delish. One more flight to go. Just because you're not flying around, doesn't mean you can't have fun with your food at home. A few #avgeeks have been posting home made #airlinemeal concepts thanks to @flysoplane for the inspiration! First up for lunch we have Bao Bun Airways in business class featuring delicious made from scratch bao buns filled with avocado, mushrooms and ginger. A crisp side salad, some yoghurt with honey and tea. I don't know how this all fitted in that tiny trolley! Next up we have boutique Italian airline Air Dolomitti with a delicious poached egg covered in salmon, avocado and fresh oregano from the mountains of Corfu. No breakfast is compete without a tasty cup of Illy coffee. I hope where ever you are you're safe and well. Take care.
