I had to go to Madrid on a work trip, and Air Europa offered excellent flight times, so I decided to fly with them.  My flight from Madrid to Frankfurt was on a hectic Friday afternoon aboard their A330; it’s not usual to see such big aircraft operating flights across Europe.

Originally I had booked economy class travel, but for some reason at the gate when I went to board the aircraft, my boarding pass was rejected. Lucky for me I had been upgraded to business class! I haven’t had great meal experiences on Spanish based airlines before in business class, so I wasn’t expecting too much from this flight.

The bonus of extra space was enough to keep me happy, but when I received my meal I couldn’t believe what the airline had created!

Before being served the meal the cabin crew distributed refreshing towels and took drink orders, you can’t go wrong with tomato juice at 35,000ft, so I decided to order that.


The service onboard was excellent; the crew were really attentive, helpful and super friendly. I could not believe my eyes when this meal tray came out!


Watercress and Rocket Salad with Cherry Tomatoes, Mozzarella Cheese and Black Olives.

Pesto and Basil Vinaigrette.

Crudites with Smoked Salon Puree and Olives.

Pepper, Aubergine and Chive Escalivada.

Cod, lettuce.

Yoghurt Mousse with a Crunchy Crumble, Kiwi Fruit and Crushed Nuts.

Fresh Bread.

Seriously all that food?! For a flight between Madrid and Frankfurt. Simply amazing Air Europa. Well thought out, completely different to what other airlines are offering on similar flight times across Europe. This meal was incredibly fresh, tasted so good and makes me think that the airline’s product team seem to know what they’re doing. I loved how they served the bread in a bread bag; the whole concept feels like it was all collected from the farmers market just before departure.

I hope you get a chance to try out this meal, probably one of the best business class meal concepts I’ve come across, and I’m not the only one that thinks that. Look at the comments on Instagram below!
