Tap Portugal meals are free on all flights and the airline aims to showcase the flavors and tastes of Portugal for all passengers to experience. Since October 2018 the airline has announced a refreshed meal service for economy class passengers on medium haul flights up to 3 hours. The focus is on fresh products, flavor, variety, healthiness, and of course showcasing Portugese flavors and themes.


Passengers on most flights will be served either a hot meal, cold light meal, cold meal or snack. See below for further information, meals will vary depending on flight time/length but expect:

Hot meals – Tray service with hot meal.
Cold meals – Tray service with cold meal.
Cold snack – Normally packaged sandwich.
Snack – Individual sweet/savory snack or sandwich.


Ponte Aérea and Madrid

Midnight-9.29am – Cheese and ham croissant or brioche roll.
9.30am-5.59pm – Portuguese pastries.
6pm-11.59pm – Cheese and crackers.

Madeira, Azores, Spain (except Madrid) and North Africa

Midnight – 11.59am – Sandwiches and Portuguese pastries.
Noon – 11.59pm – Cheese and crackers/Wrap.

France, UK, Switzerland, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, Czech Republic and Hungary

Midnight – 12.59pm – Cheese and ham sandwich and Portuguese pastries.
1pm – 11.59pm – Cheese and crackers/Wrap.

Finland, Poland, Russia, Romania, Norway, Sweden and Denmark

12am – 9.29am – Hot breakfast.
9.30am – 6.59pm – Lunch.
7pm – 11.59pm – Dinner.


Cape Verde (Boa Vista, Praia and Sal), Senegal, Ghana and São Tomé e Príncipe

12am – 9.29am – Hot breakfast.
9.30am – 6.59pm – Lunch.
7pm – 11.59pm – Dinner.

Cape Verde (São Vicente) and Guinea Bissau

12am – 11.59pm – Cold snack.


09:30 – 14:00 – Lunch | Snack.
21:00 – 09:29 – Dinner | Breakfast.
Later than 22:25 – Supper | Breakfast


North America, South America, Canada and Venezuela

09:30 – 14:00 – Lunch & Snack.

The following special meals can be ordered on Tap Portugal flights. They include: Hindu vegetarian, Baby Meal, Bland Meal, Childs Meal, Diabetic Meal, Fruit Platter, Gluten Free, Hindu, Kosher, Low Calorie, Low Fat, Low Sodium, Muslim, Lactose Free, Seafood, Special meal, Vegan, Lacto Ovo Vegetarian.

The above special meals can be ordered on all intercontinental Tap Portugal flights, but please note some conditions below. Special meals are not available on domestic flights, flights to and from Morocco or European flights lasting less than four hours.

On intercontinental flights (Economy Class) all meals can be ordered except:

Flights from Praia do not serve Asian Vegetarian, Bland, Hindu or Muslim meals.
Flights from Sal do not serve Hindu meals.
Flights from Sao Vicente and Boa Vista you can only order Kosher meals.
Flights from Accra do not serve Diabetic or Gluten free meals.
Flights from Abidjan do not serve No Lactose meals.

On European flights of 4 hours or more (in Economy) you can order: Diabetic, Gluten Free, Muslim, Vegetarian, Kosher, Childs Meal, Lacto Ovo Vegetarian and Special Meal.

The airline offers typical Portuguese dishes prepared fresh and designed by Chef Vitor Sobral. There are new soups to sample on long haul flights and new Portuguese desserts to finish off your meal. A new breakfast offering cold cuts and various cheeses, fruits and yoghurt are currently being offered on long haul services also. For lunch/dinner and supper: fish, poultry, meats and traditional Portugese tasts.


Business class passengers can now pre order their meal before their flight. A choice of  3 meals such as meat, fish or pasta dishes are available for pre order. Meal pre-ordering is available in business class cabin on long-haul flights departing Lisbon, on flights operated by TAP.

Meals can also be ordered in Executive Class on long-haul flights (and flights to Abidjan, Accra, Moscow, and Lomé) operated by TAP departing from Lisbon.

Meals can be pre-ordered from 7 days prior to the flight date to at least 24 hours prior to departure.
